Hi, Glad You're Here!
Hey mom! I am glad you landed on this corner. My name is Makayla Harris and I am the founder of Creative Moms Corner. I am a wife, friend, creative, writer, and mother of two beautiful brown children. Outside of writing and creating, I enjoy gaming with my husband Marquis from time to time, journaling, and adventuring in the great heart of Kansas City, where I was born and raised.
Why Creative Moms Corner?
In 2020, I started writing and creating custom children's for babies and toddlers three months postpartum. I was a first time mom learning how to live the new stay-at-home parent life. Creating was always a release for me and I always believed God met me in the middle of my creativity. I came up with the name "Make It Makayla" as I started to sell the custom children's book.
Months later, God began to stir my heart for mothers. It was more than writing and creating children's book. My heart began to grow to reach mothers through the gospel of Jesus Christ. That is when I changed the name to Creative Moms Corner. Although I didn't know all the details, I knew that I didn't want mothers to feel the way I did after leaving the workplace to transition home. I wanted mothers to be fulfilled and confident in their God-given identity, gifts, and passions.
It wasn't until 2021 when the Lord tugged me to utilize my gift and passion for writing. I have always written in my journals since 2014 and launched previous blogs but I never identified myself as a writer. In short, this is why Creative Moms Corner was created. The mission to equip moms to stay aligned with their God-given identity, passions, + creativity. Thank you for being here in this space!
